Board of Governors

In its institutional management role, the Board of Governors is responsible for the policies and operations of Zuyd University of Applied Sciences. The Board determines the policies and strategy of the institution and the financial and organizational framework.

Dr. Luc Verburgh – President of the Board of Governors
Dr. Luc Verburgh was appointed President of the Board of Governors at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences on 1 September 2017. 
Portfolio: strategy, internal and external communication, marketing, branding, internationalization, human resources, organization development and professionalization of teaching staff. 

Dr. Kitty Kwakman – Vice President and member of the Board of Governors
Portfolio: education, research, quality control, student affairs, care and welfare
Kitty Kwakman (born 1959) studied Nursing and Educational Theory and graduated in the field of Adult Education. In 1999 she obtained a PhD through research into the learning processes of teachers in secondary education. She worked as a university lecturer in Human Resource Development and as an Associate Professor at the HAN University of Applied Sciences and as Director of the Staff Office at the national LPBO platform for educational professions (Landelijk Platform Beroepen in het Onderwijs). In April 2010, Kitty Kwakman was appointed at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences as an Associate Professor at the Research Centre for Professionalization of Education, where she led a research team that is doing research into the educational processes within Zuyd University of Applied Sciences. In April 2011 Kitty Kwakman was appointed as a member of the Board of Governors at Zuyd. 

Olaf van Nugteren, MLD - member of the Board of Governors
Portfolio: integrated business operations, finance and control, accommodation, facilities and ICT.
Olaf van Nugteren (born 1956) holds an international Master's degree in Learning and Development, a doctoraal diploma in Public Administration, and an international certificate in the field of Human Resource Development. For several years he served as an Air Force officer at the Royal Netherlands Army (RNLA), and was based at the Air Force Staff School and the department of Behavioural Sciences. Subsequently, he became the general director of Human Resources Management and later the director of Business Operations at the Netherlands Court of Audit. In 2001 he made the switch to education: first as director of Human Resources at Eindhoven University of Technology, and subsequently as a member of the Board of Governors at SUMMA College, the regional training centre in Eindhoven. Olaf van Nugteren has been a member of the Board of Governors of Zuyd University of Applied Sciences since 1 December 2014.
